Two present New York Police Division officers and a retired officer, all from the a hundred and fifth Precinct in Queens, are going through prison fees for an alleged heroin trafficking operation.
The officers in query are Heather Busch, Robert Hassett, and Robert Smith. The latter, retired since March 2023, has been uncovered as being the group’s racist ringleader, NBC Information reported. They have been arrested Tuesday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on fees of bribery and drug trafficking.
“As alleged, the defendants shamelessly violated their oaths of workplace and the general public belief by buying and selling their badges for money fee,” Legal professional Mark Lesko for the Jap District of New York mentioned.

In personal textual content messages, Smith allegedly used racist language and admitted to pulling his gun on Black folks to intimidate them.
“Bro, I level my gun out the window now at [n-words] and watch their response and drive away. Hilarious,” Smith wrote, in line with a authorities memo opposing bail for Smith.
“Smith’s unabashedly racist and hate-filled language in his communications included common references to Black folks as [n-words] and quite a few references to the Ku Klux Klan, together with one — simply after retirement — through which he wrote, ‘Now the true [S]mith will shine. I even shaved my head. Klan,” the memo acknowledged.
Smith was detained beneath police custody till his bail listening to final Friday.
