Native highschool and faculty college students may help protect the tradition of present fashion marching bands this summer season with the brand new Oklahoma Metropolis All-Star Band program supplied by OKC Parks.
The All-Star Band is modeled after the Traditionally Black Faculties and Universities (HBCU)-style marching bands, which showcase the expertise, vitality and fervour of their musicians.
The Oklahoma Metropolis program is for college students age 14 and up. It options rehearsals Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with showcase occasions on the finish of the summer season in Tulsa, Dallas and Tennessee.
Registration is $40, and devices are offered on a restricted foundation. Rehearsals are 6-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Douglass Excessive College, 900 N Martin Luther King Ave., and midday to 2 p.m. Saturdays on the Douglass Recreation Middle, 900 Frederick Douglass Ave.
