Oklahoma police officer arrested for alleged sexual assault in Murray County, fired from Davis Police Department

MURRAY COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – A Davis police officer was arrested, accused of sexual assault.

Dale Smith, 25, was arrested after a girl reported Thursday that he sexually assaulted her, in line with a Murray County Sheriff’s Workplace information launch.

“Officer Smith has been terminated by the Davis Police Division,” the information launch states.

Murray County deputies met with the girl on Thursday.

She informed deputies that Smith repeatedly sexually assaulted her since fall of 2023, in line with the information launch.

Deputies discovered that Smith is a Davis Police Division officer throughout the course of the investigation. They obtained a search warrant for properties belonging to Smith.

Davis Police Chief Danny Cooper was notified in regards to the investigation. He assigned a Police Division supervisor to help with the investigation.

Deputies made contact with Smith when he arrived at work. They executed a search warrant on his private property and interviewed him.

“After the interviews had been performed and the proof had been collected, Deputy (Earon) Newport and Deputy (Brandon) Eddy disarmed the Davis police officer,” the information launch states.

Smith, who was lately employed by the Police Division, was arrested on the Davis Police Division and brought to the Murray County Detention Middle.

The investigation is ongoing and the Police Division will proceed to help.
