Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation says black bear killed after seen climbing trees in Norman backyard was “danger to the public”

Officers say a younger black bear was seen roaming by yards and climbing bushes within the space of Berry and Lindsey in Norman round 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cellphone video captured the second the 150-pound bear fell from a tree in Meredith Dunn’s yard. 

“Folks have been contacting us saying, ‘there is a bear in a home in Norman and it’s best to be careful,’ I had no clue it was my yard!” stated Dunn. 

Dunn and her 11-year-old daughter have been in Ardmore once they first discovered the bear was of their yard.
