OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The noncustodial father or mother suspected of kidnapping her one-year-old daughter in Oklahoma Metropolis was arrested following a standoff at a motel, throughout which she was discovered with a distinct child.
Markethia Barber, 30, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping simply after midnight Saturday at a motel at SE twenty ninth and Interstate 35.
Barber is the noncustodial father or mother of one-year-old Kay’unikee Peoples.
Oklahoma Metropolis police issued an Amber Alert Friday night, saying that Barber kidnapped Peoples at Woodson Park at Southwest thirty sixth Road and Might Avenue. Police described Barber as unstable and as being with a recognized gang member.
The Amber Alert ended Friday evening when police officers introduced that Peoples had been situated and was secure.
A standoff scenario developed with Barber inside a room on the aforementioned motel and officers surrounding the motel.
