Ponca City man accused of choking cashier with credit card machine cord

PONCA CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – A person is in jail, accused of strangling a fuel station cashier with a wire. Luciano Cerda was charged with assault and battery with a harmful weapon.

The suspect, Cerda, was seen hanging across the Conoco fuel station at 425 S. 14th road for a number of days earlier than the incident.

Based on court docket paperwork, the cashier instructed police he was appearing “very aggressive in the direction of our employees.”

So the final time he walked in, she instructed him to go away if he was going to be impolite.

“He really did stroll as much as her and say he was going to trigger issues,” stated Capt. Kevin Jeffries with the Ponca Metropolis Police Division.

That’s when Cerda allegedly received indignant and “started to tug objects off of the counter and throw the objects onto the ground.”

The cashier instructed him to go away once more, after which went to choose up the objects, at which level he allegedly attacked her.

“The wire with the cardboard reader, he ended up wrapping that across the cashier’s neck and attempting to choke her,” Capt. Jeffries stated.

She stated she tried to kick and elbow him till she was lastly in a position to break away.

She escaped with a purple mark that wrapped across the entrance of her neck.

Cerda fled, however was picked up just a few hours later whereas he was strolling within the highway.

“I feel there could have been some psychological sickness issues happening there on the time he was arrested,” Capt. Jeffries stated.

He’s being held on a $250,000 bond.
