Several Oklahoma students win OKC National Memorial & Museum essay contest on power of listening

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Metropolis Nationwide Memorial & Museum held a nationwide essay contest on the importance and energy of listening to at least one one other, and a number of other Oklahoma college students received high prizes.

Over 300 college students in grades 5 by means of 12 from 13 states submitted essays for the competition, in accordance with a Nationwide Memorial & Museum information launch.

The competition was held as a part of the Memorial Museum’s Higher Conversations initiative, which was began to commemorate the twenty fifth Anniversary of the Oklahoma Metropolis Bombing, which occurred on April 19, 1995.

The essay contest winners and their colleges are as follows:

fifth/6th Grade:

  • 1st Place: Kobe Shut – Cleveland Elementary – Norman, OK
  • 2nd Place: Canaan McKinney – Cleveland Intermediate – Cleveland, OK
  • 3rd Place:  Molly Garrison – Cleveland Elementary – Norman, OK

7th/8th Grade:

  • 1st Place: Jordan LoVette – Oakdale Public College – Edmond, OK
  • 2nd Place: Jake Pham – Oakdale Public College – Edmond, OK
  • 3rd Place:  Elijah Brown – Oakdale Public College – Edmond, OK

9th/10th Grade:

  • 1st Place:  Pari Gulati – Casady College – Oklahoma Metropolis, OK
  • 2nd Place:  Religion Adedokun – Valley Forge Baptist Academy – Collegeville, PA
  • 3rd Place:  Trinity Neves – Jenks Excessive College, Jenks, OK

11th/12th Grade:

  • 1st Place: Rachel Hintze – Homeschool – Chandler, AZ
  • 2nd Place: Abigail Miller – Homeschool – Pensacola, FL
  • 3rd Place: Layne Havlik – Coweta Excessive College – Coweta, OK

Kobe Shut, a primary place winner from Cleveland Elementary College, wrote “Good listeners are honest and open-minded they usually don’t choose folks for what they are saying.”

Pari Gulati, winner of the 9/tenth Grade division wrote: “Relatively than arguing on our ideas, if we hear one another out, we are able to perceive the problems each events are coping with and are available to a greater answer.”

John Kennedy, Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Metropolis Nationwide Memorial Basis and Founding father of StellaNova Crafted Espresso, sponsored the esssay contest. “Some of the essential expertise that folks can have right now is listening, speaking with one another, respecting one another, actually understanding one another.
