Oklahoma communities prepare to celebrate Juneteenth

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – As Juneteenth approaches, communities throughout the Sooner State are making ready to have a good time.

Juneteenth is the oldest identified celebration commemorating the tip of slavery in the USA that befell on June nineteenth, 1865.

Guthrie

  • June 19, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.: Juneteenth “FREEDOM” Celebration at Mineral Wells Park.

Norman

  • June nineteenth, 6-10 p.m.,: Juneteenth Pageant at Reaves Park- The occasion is free

Oklahoma Metropolis

  • June 19, 12-5 p.m.: Juneteenth Household Occasion at NE OKC Group & Cultural Heart.
  • June 19, 7 p.m.: Juneteenth Out of doors Live performance at NE OKC Group & Cultural Heart. Tickets are $10 prematurely and $15 the day of the occasion.
